Casual Cook

This position reports to: Executive Director


The Casual Cook is will be required to work independently or as part of team to plan, organize, and deliver a food program at SIMFC and ensuring that food is healthy, safe, affordable, appropriate and participants are accommodated by the SIMFC food program.

Job Duties
  • Provide coverage when full time cook is sick or away on holidays
  • The Casual Cook is will be required to work independently or as part of team to plan, organize, and deliver a food program at SIMFC and ensuring that food is healthy, safe, affordable, appropriate and participants are accommodated by the SIMFC food program.
  • Menu planning to meet nutrition requirements of participants;
  • Ordering and receiving food and supplies;
  • Preparing meals using food safe practices;
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area;
  • Relating well to participants by sharing information on healthy eating as appropriate and possible;
  • Keep records and write reports
Qualifications:
  • Grade twelve minimum; Training and/or experience in nutrition and food services;
  • Food Safe Certification
  • Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Experience working with Indigenous individuals and families;
  • Familiar with ordering food and supplies, record keeping and budget management.
